My main therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, but I am influenced by Existential concepts. I also incorporate Mindfulness techniques in my work, as well as creative aspects if appropriate.
I am a Chartered Health Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, also in my final year of training as a Doctor of Counselling Psychology, as well as being a qualified Creative and Play Therapist.
I have over 17 years of experience with perinatal mental health issues. During this time I have worked at the Mother and Baby Unit in Bristol, the Perinatal Team, as well as Mothers for Mothers.
I have worked with children and teenagers for 11 years. I have a vast amount of experience of working with all sorts of issues that children and young people can encounter.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We will have an initial consultation to see if we are a good fit to work together. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important vehicle for change regardless of which therapeutic model we decide to use.
Our first sessions will involve us putting together a psychological formulation from what you tell me. This is basically a sort of road map of your experiences leading up to deciding to have therapeutic support. From this we can work out the best model of therapy for you.
My approach to therapy is to encourage an acceptance of ourselves and what we have been through. I hope to offer tools and skills to help my clients better manage day to day as well as significant life experiences. I do not believe that we can, nor we should, try to aim for constant happiness, lack of anxiety, or banishing low mood from our lives.
Costs: I charge £35 for the initial consultation and £60 a session thereafter. I have some concessionary sessions for students or if you are on a low income.
